Can ANPR open my gate barrier automatically?
Yes. ANPR is typically paired with gate barriers: the camera reads the plate, checks it against an authorised list and raises the barrier for approved vehicles without the driver stopping. Visitor plates can be pre-registered, and unknown vehicles are held for security or intercom verification.
Does ANPR work at night and in bright sunlight?
Yes — purpose-built ANPR cameras use infrared illumination and fast shutter settings to read plates in darkness, headlight glare and harsh UAE sun. Ordinary CCTV cameras usually cannot do this dependably, which is why plate recognition uses dedicated cameras positioned for each lane.
How accurate is ANPR?
Read accuracy depends on engineering: camera placement, lane geometry, vehicle speed, plate condition and lighting all matter, and published accuracy figures assume the commissioning conditions they were tested under. A well-designed lane performs reliably in day-to-day use, with fallback rules — such as intercom verification — handling the reads that fail.
